Even when I heard “Boys won’t like you if you’re stronger than them, better than them, smarter than them…that a brown girl should know her place in the home, that being a tom-boy wasn’t ‘cute’ when you got older…” I always said I really don’t care what they think, because then they don’t care about what I think. What they will see anyway is the outcome of resilience. I believe in more.
